Benin Mission Trips

Approximate Costs: 

• Airfare per person $2500-$3000+ (price will vary depending on time of year, airline, and number of connections) plus medical travel insurance, $150+ per person, depending on your age and current health. It is strongly recommended you book fully refundable airfare or have trip cancellation insurance (see below). 
• Accommodations, food, and travel expenses in Benin:  $100/day
• U. S. Passport:  $130-$160 (other fees may apply) 
• Benin Visa:  $60 for 30 days
• Total: approx $4500+

Passports: 

Apply right away if you do not currently have a valid passport.  Your passport must be valid for at least 60 days after your return date from Benin, and it must contain at least one empty page. For directions, needed documents and to download application, go to:

To apply for your mandatory visa, you will need:

• Approx. $60 application fee for 30-day single entry visa (be prepared for this amount to be higher; in the past, visas have been applied for and the cost was more than what was listed on the website)
• Passport with recent photo

Immunizations:  

Yellow Fever is mandatory to enter Benin. You must have the yellow card as proof of vaccination. Other vaccines may be strongly recommended but are not mandatory. 

Check with your doctor or travel clinic, giving yourself lots of time before departure. Some vaccinations may require more than one dose, sometimes several months apart, and some may only be offered at certain times of the year. Vaccinations are expensive but most vaccines protect you for several years up to lifetime immunity.

Insurance:

• It is strongly recommended you book fully refundable airline tickets, or you purchase trip cancellation insurance.
• Medical insurance is mandatory to be able to cover your expenses should the need arise.
